During September 6 to 10, 2020, the 2020 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Applications (ICHVE 2020) was held in Beijing. Dr. Chuanyang Li, an alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, was awarded the IEEE Caixin Sun & Stan Gryzbowski Young-professional Achievement Award.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was held online simultaneously in the world. Caixin Sun from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Fellow Masoud Farzaneh, chairman of Stan Gryzbowski Award Committee, announced the results of 2020 IEEE Caixin Sun & Stan Gryzbowski Young-professional Achievement Award. Dr. Chuanyang Li, an alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering, THU (now engaged in post-doctoral research in the School of Engineering, University of Connecticut), won the award for his outstanding contribution in the field of charge accumulation mechanism and control method on gas-solid interface.
The IEEE Caixin Sun & Stan Grzybowski Award is established by the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) to commemorate the outstanding contributions of Academician Caixin Sun of Chongqing University and Prof. Stanislaw Grzybowski of Mississippi State University in the field of high voltage technology. The award aims to award scholars who have made outstanding contributions in the field of high voltage engineering technology and its development. It is selected once every two years, and one winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award and one winner of the Young-professional Achievement Award are selected globally each time. The award is supported by the Academician Caixin Sun Education Foundation of Chongqing University. The IEEE Dielectrics & Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) is responsible for nominating and selecting outstanding candidates worldwide.
