The Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) at Tsinghua University—China's premier institution for cutting-edge research and engineering education—presents the summer school for Future Power and Energy System (FPES), scheduled for August 10–25, 2025.

Background: Future Power System Opportunities & Challenges
Amidst the global shift toward sustainable energy structures and carbon neutrality, transformative technologies such as renewable energy integration, distributed generation, smart grids, microgrids, and DC transmission/distribution systems are driving revolutionary changes in power systems. These innovations impact grid architecture, operational controls, and power equipment design. Notably, China operates the world’s largest renewable energy installations, most extensive DC transmission networks, and some of the most sophisticated power systems.
As the integration of diverse energy sources reshapes power networks globally, fundamental questions demand innovative solutions: What defines next-generation power systems? How can virtual power plants transition from concept to operational reality? What methodologies enable vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies to optimize power system operation? Which stabilization strategies allow energy storage systems to mitigate uncertainties from renewable intermittency and diverse loads? This summer program systematically examines these frontier issues through theoretical and applied lenses.

Integrated Curriculum & Experiential Learning
This summer school provides comprehensive training in modern power system operation technologies, particularly focusing on the integration of renewable energy and power electronics. It also offers specialized courses on innovative DC transmission systems and advanced DC power equipment. As part of the program, participants will have arranged visits to renewable energy generation plants and energy storage facilities. Additionally, there will be opportunities for face-to-face interactions with leading researchers and engineers from the State Grid Corporation of China and their affiliated research institutions. The summer school also features a variety of cultural activities and Chinese culture immersion sessions to enhance participants' cultural experiences.

Certification
Participants completing all program requirements will receive an official FPES Certificate issued by Tsinghua University.
