On the afternoon of December 26, 2024, Tsinghua University held the 2024 Counselor Conference at the Grand Auditorium to honor outstanding individuals who made significant contributions to talent cultivation. The conference aimed to further promote the “dual-role” political counselor system, a unique feature of talent development at the university, and to foster the growth and development of the counselor team, improving the effectiveness of moral education and contributing to the development of socialist talents for modernization.

Zhang Ling, a faculty member of EEA, Delivered a Speech as the Award Representative
Zhang Ling, Assistant Researcher and Head of the Student Group at EEA, delivered a speech as the teacher representative of the Lin Feng Counselor Award. He emphasized that counselors must respect, understand, and empathize with every student, while also possessing the ability to "manage pressure," adhering to principles and guiding students with dreams along their paths.

Zheng Zedong

Zheng Zedong, male, is the Party Secretary of EEA at Tsinghua University. He joined the department in 2008 and is currently a tenured associate professor and doctoral supervisor. His main research areas include power electronics and power transmission technology, as well as electrified transportation and electric drive technology. He has served in various roles, including Deputy Party Secretary of EEA, Head of the Department's Student Work Group, and Party Branch Secretary of the Power Electronics and Electric Motor Systems Research Institute. He has guided several student SRT projects and served as the instructor for the "Future Energy" interest group. From 2014 to 2023, he was the instructor for Tsinghua University's social practice brand project, "Dream Network." He has received several honors, including the Tsinghua University Lin Feng Counselor Award and Advanced Social Practice Worker of Capital University.

Zhang Ling

Zhang Ling, male, is an assistant researcher and a Party Committee member in EEA. Since August 2020, he has served as the head of the department's student group. During his tenure, he has actively promoted several reforms, contributing to the high-quality development of undergraduate Party building work and strengthening the collaboration between class advisors and counselors. Additionally, to stimulate students' academic interests, he advocated for the establishment of innovation counselor positions and initiated a pilot program for incoming undergraduates. He has received several honors, including the Tsinghua University Annual Teaching Excellence Award, First Prize for Excellent Class Advisor, First Prize for Experimental Technology Achievements, Advanced Individual in Graduate Employment Work, and the "Outstanding Newcomer" Award in Undergraduate Admissions.

Liu Lin

Liu Lin, female, is a member of the Party Committee of EEA, assistant for student party building affairs, and a full-time organization officer. She has been awarded Tsinghua University's first batch of Excellent Organization Officers and the title of Excellent Communist Party Member. Having worked in student affairs for many years, she has consistently maintained a high sense of responsibility, leveraging her professional expertise in her work. She continuously explores effective methods and steadily promotes various initiatives, achieving remarkable results.

Lv Ruike

Lv Ruike, a doctoral student in the 2021 cohort of EEA, previously served as the class advisor for the 2021 undergraduate students and the Party Branch Secretary of the Electrical Class 1 Party Branch. During his time as an advisor, he focused on helping freshmen adapt to university life, guiding students in career planning, and organizing a wide range of Party and student group collaborative activities. These efforts led to the development of a series of distinctive, replicable outcomes. The Electrical Class 1 Party Branch was selected as one of Tsinghua University's third batch of exemplary Party branches in 2022 and was recognized as an Advanced Party Organization in 2023. The class he advised, Electrical Class 13, was awarded the title of Excellent Class in Academic Style, and the branch received the designation of a Class-A Youth League Branch. He has been honored with several awards, including the Tsinghua University Excellent Undergraduate Party Building and Ideological and Political Worker Award, the National Graduate Scholarship, the First-Class Comprehensive Excellence Scholarship, the Future Scholars Scholarship, the Excellent Student Leader Award, and the Excellent Admissions Volunteer Award.
Liu Zhizhen

Liu Zhizhen, a doctoral student in the 2021 cohort of EEA, currently serves as the Director of the Volunteer Center of the Tsinghua University Youth League Committee. He has previously held positions as the Deputy Head of EEA Student Work Group, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee, and the class advisor for the 2020 cohort. During his tenure as an advisor, he carried out a series of ideological guidance initiatives, established a functional Party branch for undergraduate student organizations in the department, and fully promoted the selection of students for Party membership. He also assisted in advancing comprehensive student development efforts, including the transformation of the "Yuanmeng Double Carbon" brand project and the promotion of the Xiaotangshan labor education activities. He worked closely with graduating students to support their academic and personal lives. In his role at the university's Youth League Committee, he fostered a volunteer spirit on campus, organizing and assisting students in showcasing their youthful energy during national competitions and campus volunteer activities. He has received numerous honors, including the National Scholarship, Beijing Excellent Student Leader Award, Tsinghua University Excellent Communist Party Member Award, and Tsinghua University Excellent Student Leader Model Award.
Pan Shi

Pan Shi, a doctoral student in the 2021 cohort of EEA, currently serves as an Academic Assistant in the Graduate Student Work Group and a Class Assistant. He has also previously worked as a Psychological Assistant in the department. Since taking on the role of Graduate Moral Education Assistant, he has demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and a meticulous attitude. He has actively and proactively handled various academic tasks, organizing three doctoral forums, each of which was awarded the prestigious Five-Star Doctoral Forum honor by Tsinghua University. He established a long-term and efficient cooperation mechanism with the IET Association. As a Class Assistant in the Graduate Student Work Group, he has helped students address practical issues, ensuring that every matter is attended to and followed up on. He has received several accolades, including the Tsinghua University Comprehensive Excellence Second-Class Scholarship, the Tsinghua University Social Work Excellence Award, the "One-Two-Nine" Counselor Award, and honors as an Excellent Student Leader and an Excellent Communist Youth League Member.
Pang Jupeng

Pang Jupeng, a doctoral student in the 2022 cohort of EEA, currently serves as the Assistant for Graduate Student Awards and Scholarships, a Class Assistant, and the Party Branch Secretary of the Doctoral Electrical Class 222. Since taking on the role of Graduate Moral Education Assistant, he has efficiently and systematically advanced the complex tasks of handling graduate scholarships and various evaluation processes. He has also placed great emphasis on summarizing work experience and refining development strategies, successfully improving the institutionalized and sustainable documentation for awards and scholarships. Additionally, he has participated in the organization and planning of two doctoral forums. He consistently prioritizes the needs of his peers, serving both as a helper and a guide, ensuring that every task is completed and followed up on. His leadership in Party branch construction has focused on ideological guidance, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and service in every role he undertakes. He has received numerous honors, including the Tsinghua University Excellent Student Leader Award, Excellent Communist Youth League Member, Excellent Graduate Student Party Building and Ideological and Political Worker Award (Party Branch Secretary), Social Practice Excellence Award, and the Graduate National Scholarship. Wang Xinjie

Wang Xinjie, a doctoral student in the 2021 cohort of EEA, previously served as the class advisor for the Electrical Class 2020 and the Party Branch Secretary of the Electrical Class 2020 Party Branch. During his tenure as a class advisor, he consistently focused on the needs of students, closely monitoring their ideological and political education as well as their mental health development. Through various forms such as career development counseling, class meetings, dormitory visits, and in-depth communication, he guided students to approach academic and life challenges with a positive and long-term mindset, ensuring the mental well-being of each student. He devoted himself to the role of advisor with a strong sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, providing comprehensive support and assistance to students. He has received several honors, including the Tsinghua University Social Work Excellence Scholarship and the Tsinghua University Department of Electrical Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student in Party Building and Ideological and Political Work Award (Party Branch Secretary). The Party branch he led, the Electrical Class 2020 Party Branch, has been recognized with titles such as Tsinghua University Advanced Undergraduate Party Organization.
Brief about the Tsinghua University Counselor Honor System Awards
The Liu Bing Award was established in 2011 on the occasion of Liu Bing’s 90th birthday. It honors outstanding faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to student guidance in extracurricular activities like science and innovation, practical projects, and student organizations. Around ten individuals are honored each year.
Tsinghua University's Counselor Honor System includes awards such as the Jiang Nanxiang Counselor Award, Lin Feng Counselor Award, December 9th Counselor Award, and December 9th Counselor Guo Mingqiu Award. Among these, the Jiang Nanxiang Counselor Award and Lin Feng Counselor Award are the highest honors for counselors who serve as both political and student advisors (commonly known as "dual-role" counselors). The Lin Feng Counselor Award recognizes approximately 10 faculty counselors and 20 student counselors each year. The December 9th Counselor Award aims to encourage counselors to inherit and promote the spirit of the December 9th movement, fostering a love for the country, diligent work, and actively guiding students to "love the country, achieve success, and contribute." Around 100 excellent counselors are recognized annually with this award.
