On January 3, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of Tsinghua University, the Tsinghua Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Beijing Institute), the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Sichuan Institute), the State Key Laboratory for New Type Power System Operation and Control (hereinafter referred to as the Power Key Lab), and the National Energy Internet Industry and Technology Innovation Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance) jointly held the first 2025 Joint Meeting of the "One Department, Two Institutes, One Laboratory, and One Alliance" in Room 3-102 of the West Main Building. The meeting was attended by nearly 40 participants, including Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and President of both the Beijing and Sichuan Institutes; Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of EEA; Gao Wensheng, Executive Vice President of the Beijing Institute; Lu Zongxiang, Executive Vice President of the Sichuan Institute; Min Yong, Director of the Lab; and Cheng Lin, Deputy Director of the Lab.

Meeting Highlights

In the morning session, Zheng Zedong, Gao Wensheng, Lu Zongxiang, Cheng Lin, and Pang Qingguo provided an overview of the 2024 progress and the 2025 work plans for EEA, the Beijing Institute, the Sichuan Institute, the Power Key Lab, and the Alliance, respectively.

Annual Work Progress Presentations

During the thematic discussion segment, Lu Chao (Deputy Dean of EEA), Dai Jing (Deputy Director of the Energy Governance Research Center at the Beijing Institute), Liu Yi (Vice President of the Sichuan Institute), and Zhang Pinjia (Deputy Dean of EEA) delivered guiding remarks on topics such as “Integrated development of talent teams and research platforms between the State Key Lab and EEA”, “Establishing an Energy Internet Think Tank Center”, “Enhancing innovation efficiency through a robust technology commercialization system”, and “Developing practical training bases for engineering graduate students at the two institutes”. Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions and provided constructive suggestions for advancing these initiatives.

Leading Remarks in Thematic Discussions

In the afternoon session, Sun Kai (Deputy Dean of EEA), Lv Lanchun (Assistant to the President of the Sichuan Institute and Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Department), Gao Wensheng (Executive Vice President of the Beijing Institute), and Li Qi (Sichuan Institute’s Experimental Platform Department) explored key topics, including “Coordinated strategic planning for high-quality academic development within the ‘One Department, Two Institutes, One Laboratory’ framework”, “Joint construction of large research teams to serve national major projects”, “Planning for the 2025 Energy Internet Conference”, and “Expanding the scale of experimental and testing services through multi-mechanism collaboration”. These discussions helped clarify the direction and priorities for cross-sector collaboration.

Leading Remarks in Thematic Discussions

Kang Chongqing concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of recognizing and seizing opportunities in 2025—a pivotal year at the national, industry, and fundamental research levels. He highlighted the significance of collaboration among the "One Department, Two Institutes, One Laboratory, and One Alliance" and proposed concrete measures in areas such as talent development, education, major project planning, platform construction, technology commercialization, think tank collaboration, and influence expansion. He also assigned responsibilities for specific tasks and announced that one-on-one and group discussions would be held periodically to ensure the smooth implementation of initiatives.

Concluding Remarks by Kang Chongqing

The successful convening of this joint meeting has further strengthened the five-in-one cooperative framework of the "One Department, Two Institutes, One Laboratory, and One Alliance," uniting expertise and resources to drive future initiatives with renewed momentum.
