On August 10, the inaugural meeting for the establishment of the Electromagnetic Detection Technology and Equipment Committee of the China Electrotechnical Society, as well as the first academic annual conference, was successfully held in Zibo, Shandong. Attendees included: Wang Qiuliang, Researcher at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Lin Jun, Professor at the School of Instrumentation Science and Electrical Engineering, Jilin University, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Gao Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electrotechnical Society; Wang Zhentao, Director of the Human Resources Department of the China Electrotechnical Society; Huang Songling, Professor and Director of the Institute of New Electrical Technology at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University, and Chair of the Committee; Zhao Wei, Professor and former Party Secretary of EEA; Guo Jinghong, Director of the Power Sensing Institute at the State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Hou Xingzhe, former Party Secretary of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company; Song Xiaochun, Vice President of Hubei University of Technology, as well as over 50 committee members and representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises. As Gao Wei, Huang Songling, Guo Jinghong, Hou Xingzhe, and Song Xiaochun pressed the launch button together, the Electromagnetic Detection Technology and Equipment Committee was officially established! Following this, Gao Wei represented China Electrotechnical Society to present a plaque to the committee.

Subsequently, the members of the first committee of the Electromagnetic Detection Technology and Equipment Committee of China Electriotechnical Society were elected through a secret ballot. Following this, the entire committee elected Professor Huang Songling as the chairman of the committee; Guo Jinghong, Director of the Power Sensor Institute at the State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute; Hou Xingzhe, former Party Secretary of the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company; and Song Xiaochun, Vice President of Hubei University of Technology, as vice chairmen of the committee. Huang Songling stated in his speech that the committee would strictly implement the relevant requirements of the China Electrotechnical Society, leverage the platform’s role, gather various strengths, and create a conducive environment for innovation, integration, and communication. The committee aims to provide an open and equal academic exchange platform for experts, scholars, and industry professionals in fields such as electromagnetic detection, electromagnetic sensing, and electromagnetic metrology, actively promoting the academic development and technological progress in China’s electromagnetic detection technology and equipment sector.

Academician Wang Qiuliang, as the honorary director of the committee, delivered a speech. He stated that China Electrotechnical Society, serving as a bridge and link between the Party, government, and a vast number of electrical engineering and technology professionals, places great importance on and strongly supports the timely establishment of the Electromagnetic Detection Technology and Equipment Committee. This committee will focus on achieving the national dual carbon goals as soon as possible, promoting academic exchanges and building cooperative platforms in the field of electromagnetic detection technology and equipment. It aims to contribute to the early resolution of common key issues in this field and to advance the development and progress of related disciplines.

After the establishment conference of the committee, the first academic annual meeting was organized, which included both plenary reports and breakout session reports. The plenary session was chaired by Professor Zhao Wei from EEA. Academicians Wang Qiuliang and Lin Jun, as well as Professor Li Hongbin from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Qian Zheng from Beihang University, and Professor Song Xiaochun from Hubei University of Technology delivered special reports on various research directions in the field of electromagnetic detection technology and equipment, sharing their latest research achievements at the forefront of science and technology with all participants. They also suggested more proactive exploration of future development trends and pathways.

The sub-session reports were divided into three themes: “Electromagnetic Nondestructive Testing Technology and Applications,” “Intelligent Sensing Technology and Applications,” and “Electromagnetic Metrology Technology and Applications.” Each theme featured over ten experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, and enterprises, who reported and discussed cutting-edge scientific issues and key technological advancements in the field.
Reports and discussions
The inaugural academic annual conference was organized by China Electrotechnical Society, hosted by Shandong Jibao Electric Co., Ltd., and co-organized by EEA of Tsinghua University, CSIC Anpu (Hubei) Instrument Co., Ltd., Changsha Tianheng Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Xinglong Technology Co., Ltd., with over 130 participants. The conference received strong support from editorial offices of core Chinese journals such as “Transactions of China Electrotechnical Society” and “China Measurement & Testing Technology”.
Moving forward, the Electromagnetic Detection Technology and Equipment Committee of China Electrotechnical Society will unite all member units and members, guided by Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They will focus on actively participating in the construction of the electromagnetic detection technology and equipment industry chain, strengthen deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and promote the application and transformation of related scientific research and technological achievements, contributing to enhancing innovation capabilities in national energy security, equipment condition monitoring, and advanced equipment manufacturing.
