On the morning of April 9, a delegation from Xinjiang University, including Vice President Jin Gang, Professor Wang Weiqing (recipient of the first “National Distinguished Engineer” award), and Lu Haifeng (Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, supporting Xinjiang), visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University for research and exchange. EEA was represented by Deputy Deans Lu Chao and Zheng Zedong, Li Yongdong, Head of the Advanced Electric Power Conversion and Electrified Transportation Team (the first Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Xinjiang University, supporting Xinjiang), Assistant Dean Sun Kai, and Bi Daqiang, Director of the Laboratory Teaching Center, along with teacher Ma Ningning.
At the meeting
At the meeting, Jin Gang, on behalf of Xinjiang University, expressed gratitude to EEA for its strong support of the Supporting-Xinjiang program over the years. He hoped to learn more about the department’s valuable experience in refining research directions, cultivating high-level talent, and building high-quality teams. Lu Chao welcomed Jin Gang and his delegation. Lu Haifeng introduced the history, faculty, research, and teaching work of the School of Electrical Engineering at Xinjiang University. Lu Chao shared information about the department’s research activities and the construction of the State Key Laboratory for the Operation and Control of New Type Power Systems. Participants from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on further collaborative support, especially in organized research, refining new academic directions, faculty development, and enhancing academic exchange.
Jin Gang praised the research achievements of EEA and looked forward to a close, mutually beneficial cooperation between the School of Electrical Engineering, Xinjiang University and EEA, Tsinghua University. He highlighted the opportunity to leverage the construction of eight major industrial clusters in Xinjiang, including new energy and oil and gas production and processing, to facilitate the transformation and application of relevant technological achievements. This collaboration aims to serve industry and local economic development while gradually enhancing the capability to undertake significant projects.
After the meeting, the delegation from Xinjiang University visited the State Key Laboratory for the Operation and Control of New Type Power Systems, including the Power System Dynamic Simulation Laboratory and the Power Electronics and Motor Teaching Laboratory. They gained a deeper understanding of the recent achievements and developments in various areas of EEA.
