On the afternoon of October 24, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University held the Employment Mobilization Conference for students to graduate in 2024 simultaneously in the Lecture Hall 217 of Zone 3, West Main Building, and an online conference room. Approximately 150 graduates from EEA and other grades attended the mobilization conference. The event was attended by Deputy Head of the Party Committee Organization Branch, Director Zhang Chao of the Student Career Development Guidance Center, Secretary Yu Xinjie and Deputy Secretary Zheng Zedong of EEA’s Party Committee, Zhang Jie of EEA’s Employment Office, Party Committee Member Liu Lin, and Han Liying from the Department Alumni Office. The conference was presided over by Zhang Ling, head of the Student Group of the EEA’s Party Committee.
At EEA’s Employment Mobilization Conference
During the conference, Zhang Chao, Yu Xinjie, Zheng Zedong, and Zhang Jie respectively analyzed and interpreted aspects of career planning, the employment situation of EEA’s students graduated in 2023, recent employment trends, and procedures and considerations related to employment.
Zhang Chao discussing value choices in career planning
Zhang Chao first analyzed the structural changes in the industry where graduates have been employed in recent years. He proposed that each industry undergoes peaks and valleys in development, and the current period is an opportune time for students in EEA to have confidence and engage in the energy and manufacturing industries. Additionally, Zhang Chao provided advice on value choices in career planning, suggesting that career choices should be based on long-term career ideals and the intrinsic values of interests and passions. In the long run, choosing a career based on interests and intrinsic values is more likely to lead to greater success than choices based on compensation and conformity to external values.
Yu Xinjie delivered employment mobilization
Yu Xinjie provided employment mobilization for all graduating students. He pointed out that employment is an important proactive choice in life, different from the passive choices commonly experienced by students in the past. He offered three suggestions regarding employment choices: firstly, discard the logic of “ranking”, as success can be achieved in any field; secondly, align personal values and abilities, orienting job selection based on core interests, seeking advice from teachers and alumni about job selection based on personal core interests; thirdly, be cautious about reneging on agreements, make decisions carefully before signing three-party agreements, create a favorable employment environment for younger students, and communicate fully with family members to avoid unauthorized breach of agreements.
Zheng Zedong introduced EEA’s employment situation
Zheng Zedong provided an analysis of EEA’s recent employment situation, covering the destinations, employers, and geographic distribution of recent graduates including those graduated in 2023. He called on EEA’s graduating students to make rational and cautious employment choices, coordinate the timing of job applications with the work on their graduation theses, abide by three-party agreements, communicate fully with family members, and avoid unauthorized breaches of agreements.
Zhang Jie conveyed and analyzed Tsinghua’s employment policies
Finally, Zhang Jie analyzed the employment situation for students to graduate in 2024, conveyed the latest school employment policies, introduced various employment resources available at the school, and provided a detailed interpretation of the employment processes and procedures that students are concerned about.
Zhang Ling presiding over the Employment Mobilization Conference
This employment mobilization conference provided graduating students with a clearer understanding of their future career choices and played an important guiding role in taking the first step towards society. It is believed that after attending the employment mobilization conference, students will make more rational choices that suit their own career paths.
