On August 2, a delegation from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics at Tsinghua University, led by Dean Kang Chongqing, visited the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company to engage in technical exchanges and sign a memorandum of cooperation. Participants in the visit included individuals from EEA, the Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute, and Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, including Lu Chao, Gao Wensheng, Dong Xinzhou, Hu Wei, Sun Kai, Zhang Lan, Ci Song, Shi Shenxing, Cui Bin, Li Xuenan, Guan Wei, and Zhang Shugui.
Kang Chongqing and the delegation engaged in discussions with Ruan Qiantu, Chairman and Party Secretary of the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company, as well as Huang Huiying, Vice General Manager, and Wang Yongming, Vice Chief Engineer, along with key department heads of the company. Ruan Qiantu warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from EEA and its leadership and experts. He provided an overview of the Fujian Electric Power Company, emphasizing the company’s construction path centered at the “Three Major & Three Firsts” strategy and their efforts to create a provincial-level demonstration zone for a new type power system with distinctive characteristics in Fujian. Ruan Qiantu noted the deep foundation of cooperation between Fujian Electric Power Company and EEA and expressed the hope that the signing of this memorandum of cooperation would serve as a new opportunity to strengthen high-level technological collaboration, promote deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and focus on addressing challenges such as lightning disasters, coastal fog, network security, and mountainous distribution networks in Fujian power grid to jointly create a high-quality new type power system and contribute to the achievement of dual carbon goals for Fujian.

Kang Chongqing highly praised the remarkable achievements made in recent years in the construction of Fujian power system. He briefly introduced the organizational structure of Tsinghua University’s “One Department, Two Institutes, One Office, and One Alliance”, as well as its research and innovation and talent development initiatives. He expressed gratitude for the long-term support provided by the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company. Kang Chongqing pointed out that both sides have a strong foundation for cooperation, and he hopes that the signing of this memorandum of cooperation will mark a new starting point for further strengthening cooperation, expanding the scope of collaboration, exploring new research directions, and jointly advancing the development of a new type power system in Fujian.

They signed a memorandum of cooperation to further deepen the cooperation between the university and the enterprise. Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of EEA, and Huang Huiying, Vice General Manager of the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company, signed the memorandum on behalf of both parties. Representatives from the office, development department, equipment department, technology department, construction department, marketing department, human resources department, control center of Fujian Electric Power Company, as well as relevant officials from the Electric Science Institute and Economic Research Institute, attended the discussions and signing ceremony.
Technical exchange
Before the signing of the memorandum of cooperation, the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company hosted a technical exchange conference on new type power system technologies. They invited Ci Song, Shi Shenxing, Cui Bin, Sun Kai, Li Xuenan, and Zhang Shugui to give academic presentations on topics such as “Digital Energy Storage: Principles and Applications”, “System Protection and Channel-less Protection”, “Key Technologies and Equipment Development for Flexible DC Transmission in Offshore Wind Power”, “Key Technologies for Distributed Light Energy Storage Systems Supporting High Proportions of Renewable Energy Integration into Distribution Networks”, “Research on the Scale-up of Private Electric Passenger Cars and the Coordinated Development of Urban Power Grids”, and “Safety and Panoramic Monitoring of Typical Scenarios in New Type Power System”.
