On the afternoon of April 19, Xu Fei, a researcher from the State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control (hereinafter referred to as the National Key Laboratory), led a team to visit the State Grid Jibei Electric Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as State Grid Jibei Company). Li Ayong, Deputy General Manager and Party Committee Member, Wang Xuanyuan, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Sun Chao, Second-level Officer of the Development Department, Sun Yunsheng, Third-level Officer of the Equipment Department, Zhou Tiesheng, Deputy Director of the Marketing Department, Liang Dong, Deputy Director of the Digital Department, Zhang Jun, Deputy Director of the Regulation Center, Tian Yunfeng, President of the Electric Power Research Institute, Liu Hui, Vice President of the Electric Power Research Institute, Shen Yu, Deputy General Manager of Wind and Solar Energy Storage Company, Zhou Yi, Deputy General Manager of Economic Research Institute, and Jiao Dongxiang, Deputy General Manager of the Operation and Maintenance Center, et al. of State Grid Jibei Company had discussions with Xu Fei and his team on key issues such as the construction and operation of new power systems. Professors Dong Xinzhou, Professor Xie Xiaorong, Researcher Hu Wei, Researcher Chen Ying, Associate Professors Hu Zechun, Associate Professor Zhao Biao and Postdoctoral Fellow Hao Ling from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics at Tsinghua University participated in the discussions.
Li Ayong, Deputy General Manager and Party Committee Member of State Grid Jibei Company, first introduced the unique advantages and active exploration of State Grid Jibei Company in building a new type power system, and a number of world-leading technological achievements such as the National Wind and Solar Energy Storage and Transmission Demonstration Project, Zhangbei Renewable Energy Flexible DC Grid Test Demonstration Project, and Virtual Power Plant Demonstration Projects. As of now, the proportion of installed new energy capacity incorporated in the Jibei power grid has reached 71%, making it the first provincial power grid in the world with new energy installed capacity exceeding conventional power sources. The new type power system dominated by new energy has become a reality in Jibei (North Hebei). State Grid Jibei Company hopes to work together with the State Key Laboratory, take technological innovation as the lead, and carry out joint research and development in core areas such as stable operation mechanism of new type power system, wind and solar energy storage and transportation demonstration engineering technology, demand-side response and virtual power plants, and jointly strive to actualize safe, efficient, clean and low-carbon operation of the new type power system of State Grid Jibei Company.
Researcher Xu Fei from the State Key Laboratory introduced the construction and layout of the laboratory. Afterwards, each teacher had in-depth discussions with State Grid Jibei Company on topics such as “Protection of New Energy Transmission and AC/DC Lines”, “Self-Adaptive Control of Wideband Oscillation”, “Intelligent Optimization of Wind and Solar Energy Storage Clusters”, “Cooperative Optimization and Digital Twins of Computing Power and Electric Power”, “Flexible Resource Coordination of New Energy and Load Side”, “Large-scale New Energy Power Station DC Collection and Grid Incorporation”, “Multi-resource Cooperative Frequency Regulation and Monitoring Control of Thermal Power, New Energy and Energy Storage”, and “New Type Grid Regulation Based on Intelligent Fusion Terminals”, which laid a good foundation for future cooperation and implementation.
