Recently, the Office of Academic Affairs and Graduate School of Tsinghua University announced the selection results of the “Award for Excellent Textbook of Tsinghua University in 2022”. The “Theory and Application of Low-carbon Power System” edited by Kang Chongqing, Chen Qixin and Xia Qing from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) won the first prize, and the “LabVIEW Virtual Instrument Design and Application — Program Design, Data Acquisition, Hardware Control and Signal Processing” edited by Hao Li and Zhao Wei of EEA won the second prize.
The “Award for Excellent Textbook of Tsinghua University in 2022” is selected every two years. In 2022, 5 grand prizes, 9 first prizes and 12 second prizes were established for the whole university.
“Theory and Application of Low-carbon Power System”, a textbook used in the course “Basics of Low-carbon Power Technology” for EEA’s undergraduates, is the first and exclusive teaching material and monograph in the field of electrical engineering and low-carbon power in China. Among EEA’s courses and teaching materials, it is the only course and teaching material directly discussing the “carbon” issue, which is conducive to helping students understand the great significance of the “dual carbon” strategy. This book directly serves the major needs of the country, industry and discipline development, and fills the gap in the low-carbon technology of the power system. It is the basic and systematic research achievement of the authors’ team in the field of low-carbon power since 2008. Dozens of papers of relevant achievements, including the first domestic paper on the prospect of “low-carbon power technology” (as of 2022, cited by CNKI for nearly 600 times) and the first domestic doctoral paper on “low-carbon power technology” (nominated for the award of top 100 excellent doctoral papers), have been published in academic journals at home and abroad.
“LabVIEW Virtual Instrument Design and Application — Program Design, Data Acquisition, Hardware Control and Signal Processing”, a textbook used in the course “Basics of Virtual Instruments” for EEA’s undergraduates and based on the 2017 edition of “Virtual Instrument Programming Tool Software LabVIEW”, describes the principles of the LabVIEW graphical programming language and the relevant knowledge and skills on how to use LabVIEW to design virtual instruments. It can be used not only as a teaching material or reference book for “Virtual Instrument Technology” and related courses in colleges and universities, and but also by engineering and technical personnel engaged in computerized measuring instruments and system construction. Since the book was published in 2018, it has received remarkable teaching effect and good feedback from readers, and up to now it has been reprinted for 8 times and into 13,100 books cumulatively. The book was used by more than 40 colleges and universities for relevant courses and selected as the “Teaching Material Planned to Be Generalized by the Electronic Information Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education”. It has been recognized recommended by NI, an international leader in virtual instrument technology.
