On the afternoon of November 23, the first phase of “Lectures for Young Marxists” jointly organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of Tsinghua University, State Grid Energy Research Institute, and State Grid He’nan Electric Power Company came to a successful conclusion. The event was presided over by Chen Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid He’nan Electric Power Research Institute. Professor Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, An Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of He’nan Electric Power Company, and Professor Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, and Li Jian, Chief Engineer of State Grid Energy Research Institute delivered speeches respectively.

Yu Xinjie said in his speech that this event, facing the missions for both building the party and co-building “new power systems” in the industry, aimed to enrich the forms of party building in each unit provide an important exchange platform for training young cadres and expanding technical cooperation. He hoped that through this event, the communication mechanism of party building in all units will be strengthened, and EEA’s advantages in terms of scientific research and talents will be closely combined with the actual needs of power grid companies, so as to realize win-win development in the practice for constructing new power systems centered at new energies.

Li Jian said in his speech that the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China further pointed out that “it is necessary to speed up the planning and construction of new energy system”, this is the unity and unremitting struggle of industry, university, research and application in new power systems, opening up a new space for the development of energy and power in the future, and the development of new power systems has entered a new stage. The event today is based on the original intention to cultivate young Marxists, and we need to unite industry, academia and research to guide young people to develop the energy and power industry, and encourage young people to think about how to “seek more happiness for the Chinese people” and how to “help revitalize the Chinese nation”.

Associate Professor Chen Laijun from EEA gave a keynote speech entitled “Non-supplementary Compressed Air Energy Storage Technology and Engineering Practice”.

Director Han Xinyang and Deputy Director Liu Yu of State Grid Energy Research Institute respectively made keynote speeches titled "Analysis and Countermeasures of Double High and Double Peak Characteristics of New Power Systems” and “A Study on the New Role and Practice Path of Bottom-level Power Supply Organization Service and Integration into the Social Governance Community”.

Dr. Xu Mingming from State Grid He’nan Electric Power Research Institute gave a keynote speech entitled “Challenges on He’nan Power Distribution Grid with Large-scale Distributed Photovoltaic Development”.

Kang Chongqing mentioned in his speech that the current development of the energy field is important and complicated, so it is necessary to rely on technology talents, and we must insist on technological innovation to drive development. As the construction of new power systems needs to be promoted by all units related, this seminar of power energy technology, guided by party building, is a creative way of tripartite cooperation. He looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with He’nan Electric Power Company and State Grid Energy Research Institute, expanding cooperation on major projects and realizing a new situation of tripartite win-win development.

An Jun pointed out in his speech that the tripartite cooperation “Lectures for Young Marxists” has achieved a good result. Young people are the most active and creative group, so he suggested: First, young people must pay attention to serving the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, actively participate in major issues, gain knowledge and skills in front-line practice and think actively; Second, young people must improve their awareness and ability of answering papers, adhere to being oriented by problems, keep realistic and pragmatic, and improve the ability to see the essence through phenomena; Third, we must jointly create better growth channels for young people and offer more opportunities for young people, push them to bigger stages, and care their growth wholeheartedly and comprehensively, so that they can make contributions at various positions. He hope the three parties will deepen and expand cooperation, jointly study and solve practical problems, and make contributions to serving the national energy security development strategy and the people’s need for electricity in a better life.

This event is not only an important part of “jointly building the project of Young Marxists”, but also a specific action to implement the joint construction plan of EEA and State Grid He’nan Electric Power Company, and strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation with State Grid He’nan Electric Power Research Institute. EEA will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, earnestly absorb the fruitful results of the “Lectures for Young Marxists”, start from the reality of the department, take setting up morality and cultivating people as the fundamental task, take serving the country as the highest pursuit, comprehensively improve talent training and technological innovation capabilities, strengthen discipline construction, deepen comprehensive reforms, lead high-quality development with high-quality party building, and make greater contributions to reinforcing the nation by education, science, technology and talents.

The event was held in the form of live video broadcast, and three venues were set up at the video conference room of EEA, the think tank academic research center of State Grid Energy Research Institute and the staff’s home of State Grid He’nan Electric Power Research Institute. The party branch of electric power system station, the party branch of the Internet Innovation Research Institute, the party branch of Doctoral Class 202 and representatives of young teachers and students of EEA listened to and watched it through the Tencent video system and gave good feedback.
