To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University, EEA and the Journal Center of China Electric Power Academy successfully held ten academic forums for the celebration. Ten research teams from EEA, Chinese and foreign experts and alumni were invited to give report and share their academic ideas on the theme of each forum. The forums were held in the form of online live broadcast. A total of more than 130,000 people watched the ten forums online, and the peak number of online users exceeded 25,000. The forum attracted experts, scholars, graduate students and engineering technicians from universities, research institutes and power and energy companies at home and abroad to watch and participate in online exchanges.

The theme of the first forum is “Discussion on Operation and Planning of New Power System”. Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, and Sun Huadong, Vice President of China Electric Power Research Institute, attended the meeting and delivered opening speeches. The forum was chaired by Professor Xia Qing of EEA, Professor Chen Qixin, Associate Professor Zhang Ning and Zhong Haiwang of EEA made keynote speeches, researcher Yang Zhifang of Chongqing University, Lecturer Wang Jianxiao of North China Electric Power University, Assistant Professor Wang Yi of Hong Kong University and Hou Qingchun, an algorithm expert of Alibaba Group participated in the roundtable meeting discuss.

The theme of the second forum is “Advanced Electronic Material and Equipment”. The forum was chaired by Professor He Jinliang of EEA. Professors Dang Zhimin and Hu Jun and Associate Professors Li Qi and Yu Zhanqing of EEA made academic reports.

The theme of the third forum is “Power Electronics and New Type Power Transmission”. The forum was chaired by Professor Zhao Zhengming of EEA. Researcher Yuan Liqiang, assistant researcher Chen Kainan, associate professor Ji Shiqi and doctoral student Shi Bochen of EEA made academic reports.

The theme of the fourth forum is “Situational Awareness and Equipment Technology of AC and DC Interconnected Power Grids”. The forum was chaired by Professor Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of EEA. Associate researchers Yuan Zhichang, Zhang Shuqing and Assistant Researcher Li Xiaoqian of EEA and Associate Professor Zhu Lipeng of Hunan University made academic reports.

The theme of the fifth forum is “Electromagnetic Detection and Plasma”. The forum was chaired by Deputy Director and Associate Professor Luo Haiyun of the High Voltage Institute of EEA. Associate Professor Fu Yangyang, Assistant Professor Li Shisong, postdoctoral fellows Peng Lisha and Guo Yuntao made academic reports.

The theme of the sixth forum is “Development Trend of Advanced Power Conversion and Electrified Transportation”. The forum was chaired by Wang Kui, deputy director of the Institute of Power Electronics and Motor Systems of EEA. Professor Li Yongdong and Xiao Xi of EEA, Zhang Jie, Chief Scientist of Power Electronics and Control at Rockwell Science Center, Professor Qu Ronghai of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Associate professor Zheng Zedong and associate researcher Lu Haifeng of EEA made academic reports.

The theme of the seventh forum is “New Energy Power System Dynamics and Operation”. The forum was chaired by Professor Min Yong of EEA. Professor Chen Qun of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Lu Zongxiang, Researcher Hu Wei, and Associate Researcher Chen Lei and Qiao Ying made academic reports.

The theme of the eighth forum is “Safe Control and Efficient Operation of Modern Power Energy System”. The forum was chaired by Professor Mei Shengwei of EEA. Researcher Chen Ying, Associate Professor Liu Feng and Wei Wei, and Associate Researcher Chen Laijun and Xue Xiaodai of EEA made academic reports.

The theme of the ninth forum is “Energy Management and Operation Control of New Type Power System”. Professor Sun Hongbin of EEA delivered an opening speech. The forum was chaired by Professor Wu Wenchuan of EEA. Professor Guo Qinglai of EEA, Professor Liu Chongru of North China Electric Power University, and Guo Qi, Vice President of China Southern Power Grid Research Institute, made academic reports, and Professor Ding Tao of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Li Zhengshuo of Shandong University, and Associate Professor Li Zhigang of South China University of Technology, and Niu Tao, Distinguished Researcher of Chongqing University participated in the roundtable discussion.

The theme of the tenth forum is “Protection Technology for New Power System Safety”. Professor Dong Xinzhou of EEA delivered an opening speech. The forum was chaired by Associate Researcher Wang Bing of EEA. Researcher Ci Song, Associate Researcher Shi Shenxing, and Associate Professor Ding Qingqing and Zhang Pinjia of EEA made academic reports. Liu Kun, a professor-level senior engineer of the Power Dispatching Control Center of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd., and Huang Tianxiao, deputy chief engineer of Zhangbei Flexible DC Transmission Commissioning Project Department of the North China Electric Power Research Institute, participated in the roundtable discussion.
