On the afternoon of November 29, the Department of Electrical Engineeringand Applied Electronicsheld the “FirstSupervisionMeeting forMajorScientificResearchProjects in 2021” in the meeting room 3-102 ofthe West Main Building and synchronously at Tencent Meeting. Wang Yan,Presidentof theInstituteof Technology Transfer, Zhang Hu,Vice Presidentof the Research Institute, Wang Yuying, Deputy Director of the Experimental Division, and Hu Yang, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology DevelopmentDivision of the Research Institute,were invitedto the meeting to give guidance. Departmentand officeleaders, including DeanKang Chongqing,PartySecretary Yu Xinjie,Deputy DeanLu Chao,DeputyDeanYu Zhanqing, and professor Huang Songlingof the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronicsformed an expert group to supervise this batch of major projects for the first time. The project leadersincluding teachers Ci Song, Cheng Lin, Chen Lei, and Xue Xiaodai also attended the meeting.

DeanKang Chongqing introduced the relevant deployment of the Department of Electrical Engineeringand Applied Electronicsfor the management of major scientific research projects. In June, the Department drafted and issued the “Regulations for the Management of Major Projects of the Electrical Engineering Departmentand Applied Electronics(Trial Draft)”, and established a major scientific research project management team. TheRegulations clarify the responsibilities of theDepartment and the project team, and the management teamis responsible forexercising management and supervision functions for major projects, and conducting irregular inspections and guidance on project bidding negotiations, key node progress,fund use, importantachievement outputand implementation issues.

The expert group listened to the progress reports of9 major scientific research projects launched in 2021. The partners of these major projects are China Three Gorges Corporation (hereinafter referred to asthe“Three Gorges Group”).TheThree Gorges Group is the Chinese largest clean energy group and one of the first batch of world-class demonstration enterprises determined by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. At the end of 2020, the two parties jointly established the “Tsinghua University — China Three Gorges Joint Research InstituteofEnergy and Power Technology”.In 2021,while implementing the scheduled scientific research tasks of the Joint Research Institute as planned andrelying on the major demonstration projects of the Three Gorges Ulanqab wind and solar storage base, thetwo partiesestablished and signeda number ofmajor scientific research projects forlarge-scale energy storage andnew access technologies and new energy control technologies, etc. The project team made brief reports on target tasks, work plans, schedules, financial budgets, personnel arrangements, and risk assessments. The expert team fully affirmed the progress of the current project, and also gave valuable opinions onsafety management, equipment procurement,intellectual property rights, contract revisions and financial expenditures.
