On May 14-15, 2021, the 2021 Teaching Seminar of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics was successfully held in Beijing Dayanlou Hotel. More than 60 teachers including Li Zheng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University, Xiao Xi, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, and Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, attended the teaching seminar, and made in-depth discussion and exchanges on the construction of first-class undergraduate courses, curriculum system, ideological and political construction and labor education, and internationalized talent training. The seminar was hosted by Zhu Guiping, deputy dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and applied electronics.

On the evening of May 14, the participating teachers were divided into four groups for more than two hours of group discussion. On the morning of May 15, Professor Li Zheng first gave a keynote report entitled "Climate Change and Carbon Peak & Carbon Neutrality". Professor Li Zheng introduced that in response to climate change, carbon peak and carbon neutrality have become China's solid development direction, and shared China’s carbon reduction tasks and ten major measures for the implementation of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, including carrying out carbon emission peak actions, optimizing the energy structure, promoting industrial optimization and upgrading, and comprehensively accelerating green and low-carbon development of buildings.

Next, Professor Zhu Guiping made a report on the teaching work and summarized the major content of teaching work in the spring semester, including the summary of teaching evaluation results in 2020, a series of symposiums on the revision of the undergraduate training program in 2021, the formulation of the first draft of the 2021 undergraduate training program, pilot of postgraduate curriculum system reform and requirement for ideological and political education of the department and university.

Later, Professor Xiao Xi introduced the specific situation of the research and education reform. Professor Xiao Xi advocate implementing the spirit of the National Graduate Education Conference to find real problems that influence and hinder the reform and development of graduate education, take real measures, and promote the development of graduate education through continuous and in-depth reforms. Professor Xiao Xi also introduced the ideas for the reform and development of graduate education and the action plan for the construction of graduate courses.

In the report session of the group discussion results, Professor Yu Xinjie shared the result of the discussion on "Ideological and Political Construction and Labor Education of Curricula", explained in detail the meaning of "ideological and political" in the ideological and political construction, how to realize the ideological and political construction comprehensively, and how to integrate ideological and political construction of curricula with curriculum teaching reform. Professor Shen Chen presided over the group discussion on "Internationalized Talent Cultivation" and put forward specific suggestions on the development of core English courses, the enrollment of international graduate students, strengthening international academic exchanges and building a favourable academic atmosphere. Associate Professor Lin Jin, who was responsible for organizing a group discussion on "Curriculum System Construction", summarized the problems in the existing curriculum system, foreign curriculum system reform cases, and ideas and plans for electrical engineering reform. Professor Zhu Guiping presided over the topic of "First-class Undergraduate Curriculum Construction", and organized discussions on teaching content and teaching methods, teacher training and incentive mechanisms, and student guidance and communication mechanisms.

In the end, Professor Kang Chongqing made a concluding speech, he fully affirmed the "curriculum-based" topics including "ideological and political content of curricula", "English class construction", "curriculum system" and "first-class undergraduate curriculum construction" in this teaching seminar, hoped that the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics will make new breakthroughs and excellent results in the reform of curriculum construction, and expressed thanks to teachers for contributing many constructive improvement measures and suggestions to the teaching work. At the same time, Professor Kang encouraged all teachers in the department to actively promote the education reform for dual-carbon strategic goal, and strive to be the "Mr. Big" in the new era.
