On the afternoon of April 25, the Fourth Meeting of Directors of the First Session of the Branch of Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of the Tsinghua Alumni Association and the 2021 Working Conference were held in the Meeting Room 203, Zone 2, West Main Building. More than 30 people participated in this meeting online or offline. The meeting was presided over by the branch secretary Zheng Zedong.

In his speech, Kang Chongqing, chairman of the alumni association of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University, briefly reviewed the historical evolution of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, and detailed the changes and development of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics in discipline construction, faculty construction, and scientific research in recent years. At the meeting, Professor Kang invited the majority of alumni to provide suggestions for the adjustment of disciplines and organizational structure of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, in order to comply with the development of the discipline and the requirements of the General Secretary for "building a new power system with new energy as the main body". In the end, Professor Kang expressed his thanks to the alumni for their long-term contributions to the development of the department, and he sincerely hoped that the members of the department will keep paying attention to the development of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics and support the work of the alumni branch. He added that the Department of Electrical Engineering of Applied Electronics also pays attention to the growth of the alumni and will fully support the progress and development of the alumni in their respective positions.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Jie of the EEA Alumni Branch and Assistant Dean Zhang Pinjia of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics made reports on the annual work progress, work plans, 90th anniversary celebration plans and logo release. The directors present affirmed the branch’s achievements in alumni promotion and platform construction over the past year, and also affirmed the branch’s work plan in continuously improving the alumni information contact mechanism, enriching alumni activities, strengthening alumni services, and establishing local organizations.

The free exchange session was presided over by Yu Xinjie, vice chairman of EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics. The directors present discussed the preparations for the 90th anniversary, discipline development and organizational adjustment of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, and they put forward a lot of valuable opinions and suggestions. The directors expressed their hope that they would concentrate on publishing a series of commemorative essays on the 90th anniversary of the department officially to extend the long-term effect of the department anniversary celebration; they hope to learn from the suggestions of professionals to promote the rapid development of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association.
