On April 13, the 2nd China-Japan Round Table Forum in the Energy Field of Tsinghua-Hitachi Future Innovation Cooperation Program, jointly hosted by the Overseas Department of the Research & Development Affairs Office and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University, was held in Huaye Building. Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee, Professor Wu Wenchuan, Associate Professor Hu Zechun and Associate Professor Zhong Haiwang of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, attended the forum. The forum was hosted by Lu Chao, Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, Tsinghua University, and Shiro Tanabe, CFO of Hitachi (China) Co., Ltd.

Yang Bin delivered a welcome speech

At the beginning of the forum, Yang Bin and Hitachi CFO Suzuki Kyohiro delivered speeches. Yang Bin fully affirmed that the management and technical teams of both parties had overcome the pandemic impact and carried out cooperation of policy research and technology research in the fields of digital city, transport, energy, health and elderly care. Suzuki Kyohiro congratulated Tsinghua University on its110th anniversary. He believed that under current circumstances, cooperation between the two parties has become increasingly important, and he hoped to jointly contribute to China's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

Professor Li Shuiqing made an introduction

Chen Yangqiu, General Manager of Hitachi (China) Research and Development Co., Ltd., and Professor Li Shuiqing, Deputy Directorof theResearch & Development Affairs Office of Tsinghua University, introduced the overall plan, objectives, progress and achievements of the future innovation cooperation plan. Both parties will combine their own advantages, make exploration in future topics and technological development, and create new value in the four major fields of digital city, transport, energy, and health.

During the keynote speech time, Chinese and Japanese experts including Zhao Yongqiang, Director of the Renewable Energy Development Center of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, Baba Atsushi, Director of Decarbonization Energy Innovation Center of Hitachi Research and Development Group, Yamane Kenichiro, Senior Researcher of Hitachi (China) Research and Development Co., Ltd., and associate professors Hu Zechun and Zhong Haiwang of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, were invited to give keynote speeches on the development trend of energy and power policies, the planning and key technologies of China and Japan for carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and the research progress of energy projects funded by "Tsinghua-Hitachi Future Innovation Cooperation Plan".

At the round table forum

During the round table forum time, Zhao Yongqiang, Liu Jun, Deputy Director of the Energy Strategic Planning Institute of the State Grid Energy Research Institute, Baba Atsushi, Wu Wenchuan, Yamane Kenichiro, and Gong Chengming, deputy general manager of TGood New Energy Co., Ltd., were invited to made in-depth discussions on the orientation of energy policies, power system reforms, and the future cooperation between Tsinghua and Hitachi.

During the exchange, the Chinese and Japanese representatives stated that the world is facing many major challenges in terms of carbon neutrality, both sides should take the resolution of these problems as their own responsibility from the perspective of human destiny and social responsibility, and in-depth cooperation is of great significance. Experts shared their insights from different perspectives, and offered suggestions on research topics, cooperation models, and key endeavors.

At the end of the forum, Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, stated that on the general background of achieving the "dual carbon" goal, the two sides will deepen and expand the cooperation, and accept opportunities and challenges in the future.
