From September 13 to 15, the 10th International Exhibition of Inventions--the 3rd World Invention and Innovation Forum was held at the Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in Foshan, Guangdong Province. The "metal oxide piezoresistors for arresters for deep-limit transient overvoltage in power grids" invented by Prof. He Jinliang and Associate Prof. Hu Jun of Department of Electrical Engineering won the "Best Invention Award" established by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
In addition, three projects, namely, the "photoelectric integrated broadband strong electric field sensor and measurement system" invented by Prof. Zeng Rong, Associate Professors Zhuang Chijie and Yu Zhanqing in Department of Electrical Engineering, and the "intelligent composite material with the electric field distribution for the insulation system of adaptively adjusting high voltage equipment" and the "metal oxide piezoresistors for arresters for deep-limit transient overvoltage in power grids” invented by Prof. He Jinliang, Associate Professors Hu Jun and Zhang Bo, won the gold medal of the 10th International Exhibition of Inventions. At the same time, the "photoelectric integrated broadband strong electric field sensor and measurement system" invented by Prof. Zeng Rong et al. won the "Instrument& Apparatus Invention Award" established by the Chinese Instrument and Control Society and the gold medal of the first civil-military integration development and innovation competition.
This International Exhibition of Inventions is sponsored by China Association of Inventions and undertaken by Foshan Municipal People's Government. Its theme is "Invention to Realize Dreams, Innovation to Lead the Future". More than 4000 innovation projects from 63 countries and regions and two world organizations were shown in this year's exhibition. At the same time, famous scholars at home and abroad, such as George Smoot, the winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physics, Luc Montagnier, the winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, were invited to give keynote reports to discuss the world's scientific and technological innovation issues.
