Abstract: Marine systems operate in highly uncertain, nonlinear environments where traditional control methods face limitations. This talk focuses on learning-based control framework that integrates data-driven techniques with control theory to enhance robustness, adaptability, and precision. The approach combines reinforcement learning, physics-informed models, and learning-augmented MPC, while embedding physical constraints to ensure stability and interpretability. Three key applications are discussed, including coordinated multi-USV search and rescue, adaptive control of offshore renewable energy systems, and high-precision marine operations such as docking and inspection. Results demonstrate improved performance in decision-making, energy efficiency, and disturbance rejection.
摘要:海洋系统运行环境具有高度的不确定性与非线性,传统控制方法往往难以应对复杂工况下的严苛要求。本次讲座重点介绍一种学习驱动的控制框架,该框架将数据驱动技术与控制理论相结合,以增强系统的鲁棒性、自适应能力与控制精度。该方法融合了强化学习、物理信息模型以及学习增强型模型预测控制(MPC),同时嵌入了物理约束以保证系统的稳定性和可解释性。本文探讨了三个关键应用场景,包括多无人水面艇(USV)协同搜救、海洋可再生能源系统自适应控制,以及靠泊检测等高精度海洋作业。实验结果表明,该方法在决策能力、能源效率和抗扰性能方面均实现了显著提升。

Speaker: Dr. Yao Zhang is currently with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London (UCL). Her research focuses on artificial intelligence, automatic control, and optimization, with applications in marine and aerospace engineering. She is an IEEE Senior Member, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is the Principal Investigator of multiple funded projects, including EPSRC, INNOVATE UK, Royal Society, European Horizon, etc. She has published over 80 papers, including Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, etc. She serves as Associate Editor for leading journals including Ocean Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, and IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution. She serves as the Secretary of the IEEE UK&Ireland Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, an IEEE UK & Ireland WIE Ambassador, and the local event coordinator for the IEEE UK & Ireland Control System Chapter.
